Mappy Map & Round or Square?

I slaved last night. And made a map.

It's WAY not perfect. It's too small (I forgot to enlarge the map picture from mapquest before tracing it in Photoshop) but our church is luckily REALLY easy to get to. This will be the insert for our invitations.

Today I also went to Staples and purchased a paper cutter:

Some full-sheet labels to print the addresses on (and cut with the above cutter.)

And some linen resume paper to print the inserts on, so they are a little thicker and match the linen finish on our invites. (Note the inserts printed on the left below... again... no green ink in my printer! Whoops!)

I love the linen texture! Gratuitous ring shot woot!

So the neat thing about my paper cutter is that it has 4 blades (regular, perforation, scoring, and squiggly) and a corner rounder! I decided to try out rounded corners on my invitation, RSVP card, and insert. I put them on a paper towel so you could see the dark invites better, haha. SO ghetto.

I think it adds a bit more to the funky-contemporary vibe. Do you guys think it's worth doing?

Here's a close up...

I'm kind of digging it, but it's work, and I think I'm losing it in general, so I'm polling all of you. Round or Square edges?

Puggy Seacrest, OUT!

  1. Puggy Seacrest, OUT! hahahahaha! You're a trip, girl!

I LOVE rounded corners, honestly, and think they give stationary a "super-duper-expensive" (as my 14 year old cousin would say) look.

BUT..if you're losing it we don't need to read about a certain Pugg-lovin' blogger arrested for running up and down the road with her paper-cutter. So...if it's too much work axe it. Maybe you can do a little bit each night?

  2. I agree. If you think doing a little here and there will be do-able in the end and won't make you go crazy then go for it, the round corners are cute. But keep this in mind: I never got an invitation in the mail and thought, "Man, this would look so much better if it had round corners."

You could always do the round corners for your thank-you's after the wedding.

  5. The rounded edges look great, but that's because they're on an amazing invitation and inserts!!! If you feel up to it, do it - but don't let it be the task that pushes you too far.

  6. Love the round edges! But, like everyone else is saying, if it takes too long, then I would maybe scrap that particular detail...making the envelope wraps might be more worth your time? You can only do so much! And, I am taking this into account...and starting my invites NOW! Hehe..

  7. I know it's more work but, woah, do I love the rounded edges. Also, love how you did the map inside the quadrefoil shape. When my time comes I want to use quads as thoughtfully as you did! Don't worry about the map being small; you are coreect in that the church is super easy to get to. I had no problem envisioning where to go by reading your directions.

  8. Wow! The invitations look awesome and I really love the wording you used. The map is great too, so jealous you were able to do that yourself!

  9. I love rounded corners but I don't have the attention span to do it... instead I bring that project out when my fiance is up to nothing (watching tv) and put on the biggest puppy eyes ever. As long as its not too "crafty" (cutting things can be considered manly) and hes not busy hes happy to help! See if you can get anywhere with a pouty face... you might get an extra helper!
Good luck :) LOVE your invites

  11. Love the rounded edges as well, but just like everyone else don't go crazy or slave over it. Remember we only love the rounded corners because we saw them - your guests won't know you decided against rounded and stuck with square. I've told you so many times, but as a Mrs. who slaved over so many details, I am now wise and give the advice to let some of the small things go because in the end they really won't matter.
